Govt vigilant on dumping risks after US tariffs

NEW DELHI:

A meeting of export promotion councils (EPCs) has been called in the ministry that is expected to be chaired by the commerce minister and attended by senior officials on Wednesday, the officials cited above said requesting anonymity.

The meeting will discuss the mechanism to keep vigil against dumping of goods from neighbourhood and to explore new markets to boost Indian exports as some sectors such as carpets and shrimps could be affected by sweeping tariffs announced by the US on April 2. The US imposed 26% additional reciprocal duties on Indian goods, which is however, lower as compared to China and other Asian nations such as Vietnam.
