Govt names former Reserve Bank guv Urjit Patel as IMF ED

Former RBI governor Urjit Patel has been appointed as India’s next executive director (ED) at the Washington-based International Monetary Fund (IMF) for three years, after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared his name on Thursday. Seven years after he resigned from RBI, Patel is back to playa key role for the Narendra Modi government.
“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr Urjit Patel, economist and former RBI Governor, to the post of Executive Director (ED) at the International Monetary Fund, for a period of three years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” an official notification, dated August 28, said,

NMCG orders Hry govt to fix drain to prevent Delhi water contamination
