Bihar doc joins service month after niqab row

Nusrat Parveen, an Ayush doctor who found herself in the middle of a controversy last month when Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar pulled down her niqab (veil) during an appointment letter distribution ceremony, has joined the service, officials aware of the details said on Wednesday.

Parveen reported for duty at the Patna Sadar Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Sabalpur on Tuesday, the penultimate day of the extended deadline to join the service, amid rumours that she has declined the job.
