3.5K illegal immigrants held in Tripura since ’22

A total of 3,518 illegal immigrants have been arrested in Tripura since 2022 and 2,739 have been repatriated, a report submitted in the state’s recent assembly session revealed.
Of the arrested immigrants, 3,316 (94%) are from Bangladesh, 191 from Myanmar, seven from Nigeria and another four from France. Of these, 2,739 have been repatriated—2,607 to Bangladesh and 132 to Myanmar.
‘According to the report, 982 arrests were made in 2022, 1,112 in 2023, 1,008 in 2024, and 416 till August this year.
