The only known survivor among the 22 labourers onboard the dumper truck that plunged into a deep gorge in Arunachal Pradesh has returned home severely injured and is now undergoing treatment in Assam’s Tinsukia district, people aware of the matter said.
According to family members, Budheswor Deep (23) was one of 19 workers from Gela Pukhuri Tea Estate who had travelled to Arunachal Pradesh for construction work reportedly linked to a hostel project. A relative said Deep left home on December 8 morning, and when his phone became unreachable, they assumed it was due to poor mobile connectivity in the area. “On Wednesday, we found out he had survived an accident,” said a family member.
