30 More Beds Added, 70 Staff Members Being Recruited to Reduce Long Waiting Time for Patients
CHANDIGARH: The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is expanding its Drug De-Addiction and Treatment Centre (DDTC) by adding 30 more beds and recruiting 70 staff members to ease the long waiting time for patients seeking admission.
Currently, the centre has a 20-bed indoor facility, often with a waiting list of 10-30 patients. With the addition of new beds and manpower, officials say the centre will be able to admit patients faster and reduce the backlog.
DDTC, run by PGIMER's psychiatry department since 1988, sees more than 27,000 patients annually in its outpatient department (OPD).
