With CM Dr. Mohan Yadav’s green manufacturing push, the state is positioning itself as a key pillar in the nation’s ‘Net Carbon Zero 2070’ mission; driving waste-to-wealth innovation through compressed bio-gas, sustainable farming support and large-scale clean energy expansion
-
Madhya Pradesh is pursuing an ambitious target to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint in the country by 2070. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an ambitious target of 500 MW of renewable energy by 2030. MP is contributing with commitment to achieving this national goal. In the past 12 years, the state has increased its share in total energy production to over 30%.
Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state government aims to meet 50% of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030. Madhya Pradesh currently generates over 24,600 MW of electricity and aims to add 2,000-plus MW this year. The first phase of Asia's largest floating solar project at Omkareshwar, 278 MW of electricity has already been generated. Large solar plants have also started in Agar and Neemuch.
MASSIVE INVESTMENTS
Benefitting from CM Dr. Yadav's vision of India’s first Technology-Agnostic Renewable Energy Policy that provides investors with flexible and favorable opportunities to boost solar and wind energy, the state received significant investment proposals in the renewable energy sector. In the last 10 years, more than $70 billion (over Rs 5 trillion) has been invested in renewable energy, creating over 1 million jobs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasised MP's vital role in this growth, stating that the state currently has a power generation capacity of approximately 31,000 MW, of which 30% is green energy.
