Light showers end dry spell, foggy days ahead

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has appealed to the residents to submit their property tax for the current financial year by December 31 to avoid 10% penalty. Officials said residents had the option of getting 10% rebate on payment of property tax for the current financial year by September 30. No penalty is imposed on payment of tax from October 1 to December 31, while the department imposes a 10% penalty on tax payment from January 1 to March 31. The penalty is increased to 20% and 18% annual interest is also imposed if the residents fail to pay tax for the current financial year by March 31.

The MC commissioner said the civic body would keep its zonal suvidha kendras open on Saturday and Sunday too. HTC LUDHIANA: The dry spell the city has been experiencing since October ended when light showers lashed the city on Monday morning. According to Punjab Agricultural University's (PAU) department of agricultural meteorology and climate change, the city recorded 2.3 mm rain on the day. The rain also brought the mercury down significantly. The maximum temperature fell by 8° Celsius. On Sunday, the maximum temperature was 22° Celsius, which fell to 14° Celsius on Monday. This was 5.4° less than normal.
