‘China’s political state unstable, but interest in Buddhism on rise’

The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, 14th Dalai Lama, after his arrival in Ladakh on Saturday said that the political situation in China is not stable but there is a growing interest in Buddhism.
The 90-year-old spiritual leader, while speaking at Shewatsel Phodrang, said that he has also received invitations to visit China but he felt it would be difficult to teach Buddhism there.
“In China, the political situation is not stable, but interest in Buddhism is growing. I have received many messages inviting me to visit China, but I feel it would be difficult to teach about Buddhism in a country where there is no freedom—I feel it's more effective to teach about Buddhism in India,” he told the gathering on Saturday.
