Ex-govt Pleader Booked on Rape Charges Found Dead in Kerala, Suicide Suspected

A former government pleader in the Kerala high court, who was booked on charges of raping a woman last year, was found dead at his rented residence in Kollam on Sunday, an officer of the Kollam West Police said.

The senior lawyer's body was found inside the house by one of his colleagues around 12 noon on Sunday, the officer said.
"It is suspected to be a case of suicide. We have registered a case of unnatural death and have begun investigating. The autopsy of his remains will be done tomorrow before being handed over to his family," the officer, who did not want to be identified, said.
The Kollam west police said it was only investigating the case of his "unnatural death" and not the sexual offences charged against him in Ernakulam district.
