3 K'taka soldiers among 5 killed in Poonch accident

Five soldiers, including three from Karnataka, lost their lives on Tuesday after an army vehicle plunged into a 150-feet deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
BENGALURU: The deceased soldiers from Karnataka have been identified as Subedar Dayanand Thirakannavara, Anoop, and Mahesh Marigonda.
In a post on X, chief minister Siddaramaiah said: "I was saddened to hear the news of the martyrdom of Kannadiga soldiers Dayanand Thirakannavara, Anoop, and Mahesh Marigonda in an army vehicle accident near Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir."
He added, "I pray to God that the souls of the deceased soldiers may rest in peace and that their families may find the strength to bear this pain. The nation will forever remember the sacrifices and bravery of these martyrs who laid down their lives in service to the nation."
