Delivering problems in town centre

Delivery drivers flouting a traffic ban in Fleet Street, Torquay, are dodging fines simply by ditching their clapped-out cars
ROGUE delivery drivers who defy a Torbay pedestrian zone and clock up dozens of fines are getting around them fines by simply dumping their clapped-out cars.
The problem has got so bad in the town centre that one councillor said it was hardly worth having it pedestrianised at all. Buses are allowed in Torquay’s Fleet Street, as are taxis and emergency vehicles.
Delivery lorries are allowed in before 10am and after 6pm, but apart from that there should be no traffic in the busy shopping street at all.
