Big-game players will be key for boss Wotton

ON the day he added striker Sonny Fish to the roster, manager Paul Wotton said Torquay United needed the experience of 'big-game players' last season - and that is why he has brought in the likes of Munashe Sundire, Louis Dennis and Callum Dolan.

The Torquay manager watched from the sidelines as younger players learned 'the hard way' in games that the team lost points in - with that ultimately costing them promotion back to the National League when they were pipped at the post by Truro City.

In the play-offs, Torquay lost 1-0 against a Boreham Wood team that was more experienced and more able to cope with the occasion.

But players like Sundire, Dennis and Dolan have all played at a higher level - and have brought the average age of the squad up. And, ahead of Thursday's first day of pre-season training, Wotton might even be able to add another player.
