VP makes surprise visit to Dubai's historic souk

In a heartwarming and unexpected gesture, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, paid a surprise visit to one of Dubai's bustling traditional markets.

The visit underscored his commitment to staying connected with the people and preserving the emirate's rich cultural heritage.

Strolling through the historic souk, Sheikh Mohammed greeted local vendors, admired traditional crafts and goods, and took time to engage with both residents and tourists alike.

Dressed in his signature modest attire, he was seen exchanging smiles, posing for photos, and enquiring about visitors’ experiences in Dubai.

The unannounced visit took place in one of the city's heritage-rich neighbourhoods, home to markets known for spices, textiles, perfumes, and gold.

Several shopkeepers expressed their surprise and joy at seeing the Ruler of Dubai walking among them, calling it a moment they would never forget.

Tourists, too, were visibly delighted to interact with Sheikh Mohammed, many of them capturing the encounter on their phones and expressing admiration for his down-to-earth demeanour.

Sheikh Mohammed has long emphasised the importance of staying connected with the community and ensuring Dubai remains a welcoming, people-centric city.
