Trinamool sets 2-day deadline for its inclusion in UDF

In a deft move, the Trinamool Congress has decided to field party state coordinator PV Anver in the upcoming Nilambur Assembly by-poll on 19 June, if Congress failed to induct the party into the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) within two days.
Peeved by the UDF decision to field Aryadan Shoukat against his wishes, Anver warned Congress that if a decision on UDF entry is not made soon, he will contest the by-election independently.
Trinamool has asked the UDF to decide on the alliance entry within two days.
Anver, who had defeated Shoukat in the last legislative elections, wanted VS Joy, Malappuram district Congress president, to contest on UDF ticket.
The latest development could mar the chances of UDF candidate Aryadan Shoukat in Nilambur, where he was defeated by Anver in the last Assembly elections.
Anver had submitted a letter seeking entry into the alliance five months back.
