Shabab Al Ahli book berth in ADIB Cup final

DUBAI: Shabab Al Ahli booked their place in the ADIB Cup final after a 2-2 draw with Sharjah in the second leg of the semi-finals at Rashid Stadium.

With this result, Shabab Al Ahli advance with a 5-3 aggregate score, having won the first leg 3-1.

Sharjah started the match in search of an early goal to close the gap from the first leg.

Their pressure paid off in the 12th minute when Guilherme Sucigan latched onto a through ball from Mohammad Abdulbasit and calmly slotted home the opener.

In the second half, Shabab Al Ahli came out with more purpose.

A penalty in the 51st minute gave them the breakthrough they needed, as Federico Cartabia stepped up and converted to bring the score level at 1-1. Sharjah answered with a penalty of their own in the 62nd minute, confidently taken by Shaheen Abdalla to restore their lead on the night at 2-1.

But the celebration was short-lived.
