Selles replaces Wilder at Sheffield as new manager

Sheffield United named Ruben Selles as manager to replace Chris Wilder who left after a mutual agreement following the club's failure to gain promotion to the English Premier League (EPL), the second-tier Championship side said on Wednesday.

Selles, who previously managed Southampton and Reading, took charge of Hull City in December with the club bottom of the Championship and the Spanish 42-year-old guided them to safety, avoiding the drop on goal difference.
Wilder had signed a contract extension until 2028 with the Blades earlier this year but after finishing third in the Championship, they failed to win the playoff final, losing 2-1 to Sunderland, who scored the winner deep into stoppage time.
