Pak journalist arrested over disinformation freed from jail

The founder of a Pakistani online news channel who was arrested for allegedly spreading disinformation was released on bail on Monday, his lawyer said.
Two separate Karachi courts granted bail to journalist Farhan Mallick in as many cases against him - pertaining to allegedly “anti-state” content and sedition, their through his legal centre.
Mallick’s outlet, Centre for Governance, Reform and a former news director at Samaa TV, was arrested on March 20 in Karachi and booked under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) as well as the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) in a case related to alleged anti-state comments on YouTube channel.
The arrest was met with widespread criticism from media bodies as well as rights activists.
