Man faces jail, deportation for selling alcohol

DUBAI: The Misdemeanors and Violations Courtin Dubai has sentenced an African national to one month injail and orderedhis deportation fromthe country after serving his sentence, besides a fine of Dhs4,000 forhis conviction of possessing and selling alcoholic beverages through his vehicle.

Additionally, he was found guilty of the charge of overstaying after his visit visa expired.
The details of the case date back to December 2023 when a policeman suspected the African, who was driving a vehicle in Al Rashidiya area, so he stopped him and asked for his identity but the suspect said he did not have an ID because he entered the country on a visit visa in 2019 and had been staying in Dubai illegally, in violation of the residency law.
