Malaysia Central bank holds key rate steady

Malaysia's central bank kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged on Thursday, expecting economic activity to remain strong this year and inflation manageable, but it warned of increasing risks to the global economy.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) maintained its overnight policy rate at 3.00 per cent, the same level since May 2023, and in line with market expectations that the central bank will hold rates steady through this year.
