Doctor criticised for flagging Kerala hospital issues

The Kerala government has issued a show-cause notice for potential disciplinary action against a leading urologist at the state's largest teaching hospital after he raised concerns about insufficient facilities.
Dr Haris Chirackal, the head of the urology department at Government Medical College in the state capital, said he'll respond to the notice issued by the director of medical education (DME) in a week.
Dr Chirackal recently took to social media to express his inability to perform lifesaving surgeries due to the shortage of medical equipment in the hospital, following the authorities' repeated disregard of his requests.
He admitted that posting internal matters on social media violated service rules, but he strongly denied the allegations against him, including that he intentionally delayed a surgery.
