Act fast to curb drug menace, Mollywood warned

After a closed-door meeting with various organisations that represent Malayalam film industry, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has warned Mollywood that if steps are not taken to curb the increasing use of drugs and narcotic substances among actors, directors and others connected with the industry, the agency would step in to contain the menace.

The NCB on Friday held a closed-door meeting here with representatives of different organisations in the film industry giving a clear signal that the central agency means business.

The NCB officials advised the film representatives to take preventive steps to avoid the agency's intervention in the issue, according to media reports. The one-hour meeting, chaired by NCB deputy director, took place at the bureau's office at Kakkanad.
