52-year-old UAE resident survives rare heart infection

In an extraordinary and rare medical instance, doctors at Aster Hospital, Qusais, successfully performed a lifesaving surgery on 52-year-old Indian expatriate Santiago Dias Rogue.
In a condition rarely documented worldwide, Rogue developed a bacterial infection that typically causes meningitis of the brain, but in this unusual case, it caused inflammation of the lining around the heart (pericarditis) and a dangerous buildup of fluid, a life-threatening condition known as cardiac tamponade.
