Expert tips for summer-ready skin
Summer: It's hot, unpleasant, and your make-up takes a hit. Your mascara smudges away, creating a raccoon effect that The Ring's make-up team would be proud of.
Fear not: Summer trends are to the rescue. We spoke to UAE-based beauty lovers and expert make-up artists for their hot-weather favourites: Lightweight layers, dewy finishes, and smart, sweat-proof techniques.
'No-make-up' make-up
When your name is Sunshine Wolfs, you're practically destined to master the art of radiant beauty, and this Dubai-based homemaker lives up to it with her go-to summer look. “The ‘no-make-up’ make-up look is my summer staple,” Wolfs says. “It keeps things light, breathable, and still gives me that fresh, dewy finish I love.”
With Dubai’s heat and humidity in full swing, Wolfs swears by sunblock as her first beauty step — not just for protection, but also for an extra dose of hydration.
From there, it’s all about keeping it simple, yet strategic:
■Concealer: Just enough to blur out blemishes and even the tone.
■Cream blush: Use the “drunk blush” technique for a sun-kissed, natural, flush by sweeping blush across your cheeks and over the bridge of your nose.
■Light peach gloss: If you're going for soft summer vibes, this one’s a winner.
■Highlighter: A final swipe to catch the light and seal in that effortless glow.
