LAWMAKERS ACROSS PARTY LINES DEMAND ANSWERS ON SAFETY AND FARES

- Gulf News Report

Concerns over air safety and fare regulation dominated a crucial meeting of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) yesterday, as top civil aviation officials, airline representatives, and aviation regulators appeared before the panel.

The meeting followed two recent flashpoints in India’s aviation sector — the Air India crash in Ahmedabad and the steep surge in airfares after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

PAC members raised sharp questions about the safety standards followed by airlines, particularly in the wake of the Air India Flight AI-171 crash.
