Maritime safety took centrestage on Monday as the latest edition of the Tristar Safety at Sea conference brought together industry leaders, seafarers, and safety experts from around the world.
The event highlighted the critical importance of protecting seafarers' mental and physical wellbeing while raising global standards for safety at sea.
"There are many conferences around the world, but Tristar Safety at Sea is the only major one focused exclusively on safety in shipping," said Dr Grahaeme Henderson, president of the conference and chair of Together in Safety. "It also facilitates direct dialogue between seafarers on the ocean and the people responsible for their safety onshore."
The conference, livestreamed to allow seafarers worldwide to participate, was conceived by Eugene Mayne, founder and CEO of the Tristar Group, after the tragic passing of two crew members in 2019.
