Workers 'split into two rooms after 12-hour night shift' to learn fate

IT WAS 'LIKE SOME KIND OF SICK GAME SHOW'
SOME of the workers made redundant at Lindsey Oil Refinery yesterday were told the devastating news yesterday morning straight after working the overnight shift.
Overall, 125 workers at the refinery, located near North Killingholme, have been issued their redundancy notices.
Unite representative and refinery worker Dave Smith is at the Labour Party Conference pressing for greater government intervention for the refinery.
Despite the redundancies announcement, there remains hope of the site being sold off as a going concern.
In an interview with GB News, Mr Smith reported that some of his fellow workers were handed their redundancy notices straight after overnight shifts.
The refinery requires overnight staff to function, and Grimsby Live understands the typical shift duration for overnight staff is a 12-hour shift.
