MOTORIST'S CONCERN OVER STATE OF A1031 STRETCH

- By TOM KEIGHLEY

Driving over damaged road like 'riding the wall of death'

Cllr Bayleigh Robinson has been vocal about repairs needed to the A1031, including this example of a pothole which is due to be repaired within days

A MARSHCHAPEL woman has told of her worry that a serious accident is waiting to happen on a stretch of the A1031 near North Cotes. Samantha Atkinson drives the section between North Thoresby junction and North Cotes junction with Fleetway several times a day while on her commute to work and when visiting her mother.

The transport and logistics worker noticed subsidence in the road which she says can cause vehicles to violently roll. Samantha only recently witnessed a tractor pulling a small bowser which almost pitched over as it drove over the section of sunken road.

She explained: "When I reported it to Lincolnshire County Council, I dropped a pin to the exact point on the road where the issue is. The defect in question is not a pothole but where the road has given way, a little bit like a sinkhole.
