Crematorium recycling scheme's £10k boost for charities

'A FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT'
GRIMSBY charities have received a share of £10,000 from North East Lincolnshire Council.
MacMillan Cancer Support and Alzheimer's Society both received £5,000 each.
The money was raised through the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) Metals Recycling Scheme, which has been in operation since 2014.
This works through the collection of recyclable metals, such as replacement implants or joints, following a cremation. Proceeds from the sale of the metal go into a charity fund, which is donated twice a year.
As part of the scheme, Bereavement Services have donated more than £150,000 to local charities and over £22 million has been donated nationally.
