Towns is relishing Southern League challenge

» HARTPURY University vice-captain Jacob Towns is relishing the chance to test himself in the Southern League after the Acorns’ back-to-back title successes took them into Division One South for the first time.
-
The club followed up their Hellenic League Division One triumph with the Hellenic League Premier Division crown last term, a campaign which also saw them fall one game from a Wembley appearance as they lost 2-0 on aggregate to eventual winners Whitstable Town in the semi-final of the Isuzu FA Vase.
Towns is entering his fourth season with the club having spent his formative years in the youth academies of Stoke City, Forest Green Rovers and Everton as well as representing England at schoolboy level.
Since moving to Hartpury, he has played a key role in the team’s progression, but also earned further recognition as part of the England Universities squad.
