Election Moya secures another council seat for Greens in vote

THE Green Party has secured another seat at Stroud District Council as Moya Shannon is elected in the Severn ward by-election.
She is the party's 24th councillor at Ebley Mill and received 439 votes ahead of Hena Mannan-Rahman who polled 425.
Reform UK’s candidate Jonathan Wren received 421 while Labour's Karen Linforth, Liberal Democrat Mike Stayte and UKIP’s Ben Walker were on 177, 112 and five respectively. Cllr Shannon will take the seat previously occupied by Labour councillor Richard Maisey, whose death in April sadly triggered the by-election.
“I am very grateful to the voters of this ward for putting their faith in me and the Green Party to represent them and I look forward to working for the best interests of the many voices in our community,’ she said.
