BRIDGEND Town are the new leaders of the South Wales Premier Cricket League.
-
They made it four wins from four thanks to their 80-run success at Ynystawe.
The visitors batted first and knocks of 58 from skipper Sam Wood and 47 from Thomas Dalton helped them to 209 all out.
Alex Fletcher took 4-42 for the Swansea side.
But the hosts struggled in their run chase, with only Thomas Morgan (60 not out) making a score of note as they slumped to 129 all out.
Tomos Jones took 4-30 for Bridgend.
Previous leaders Newport were knocked off the top as they went down by 94 runs at Usk, who climbed to second as a result.
The home batters were in prime form, with Glamorgan’s Billy Root top-scoring with an unbeaten 74.
He was assisted by Ollie Rayner (52), Hugo Caldicott (50) and Harawal Wassam (47) as Usk reached 285-6 in their 50 overs.
Christopher Cole took 3-54.
Newport opener Michael Clayden offered brief hope to his side with a knock of 81, but apart from Campbell Macmillan (37) the rest of the batting largely failed and the visitors were shot out for 191.
Rayner and Matthew Williams both took three wickets.
St Fagans timed their chase perfectly as they won a high-scoring clash at Ammanford by five wickets.
It was tough on the home side, whose top order were in excellent form as they compiled 315-6.
Matthew Spoors struck a blistering 96 off just 76 balls, an innings that featured 13 boundaries and two sixes.
