Prolific sex offender left young victims 'broken and terrified'
Glamorgan Gazette
|May 29, 2025
A PROLIFIC sex offender raped and abused two young boys, leaving them “broken” and “terrified”, a court heard.
Yossa Maunders, 51, also known as Andrew Yorath, would regularly isolate the two boys then take them to secluded areas and sexually abuse them.
Clare Wilks, prosecuting, told Cardiff Crown Court that Maunders, who was in his late teens at the time of the offences, would rape the victims when they were under 16 and tell them not to tell anyone.
She also spoke of an occasion where Maunders had picked up a brick and threatened to smash the head one of the victims and their family before making him get to his knees and raping him.
The court heard the defendant had relevant previous offences which followed a similar pattern to this case.
In 2021, he was sentenced to an extended 15-year sentenced for the “systematic” abuse of a young boy 30 years ago.
