Schools brought history to life as children joined in moving celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

From donning 1940s attire to meeting veterans and crafting wartime aircraft, pupils took part in a series of commemorative events on Thursday, May 8 that honoured both the spirit and sacrifice of the Second World War generation.
At St Louis Catholic Primary School, Frome, pupils visited Rossetti House care home where they met veterans and local residents who shared personal memorabilia, newspaper clippings and wartime medals.
