Novices win medals in first tournaments

June has been a successful month for South Wansdyke Archery Club’s novice archers.

Chris Guille, Steve Edgell and Thomas Williams all competed in their first archery tournaments and came back with medals.
Guille and Edgell competed in the Bath Archers’ Novice Tournament on a very sunny day, with the occasional black cloud passing over.
Edgell shot a National 30 (eight ends at 30 yards, four ends at 20), and Guille a National 50 (eight ends at 50 yards, four ends at 40).
They are both barebow archers so do not use any sighting aids to help shoot and, by 2.30pm all of the shooting had finished just in time for a 20-minute downpour before the presentations were greeted by the blazing heat.
