Norton Radstock back in business

After a lengthy time away from the scene building a new team, Norton Radstock Amateur Boxing Club is back.
-
Head coach Sean Jenkins said: "Every club up and down the country goes through a transitional period where a team of boxers all seem to drift away from the game. It may be down to a new or first girlfriend, a job, supporting one of their local football clubs or even moving away from the area. It happens, its life.
"So for the last 18 months we've been working hard on building a new team of prospects for 2025. It’s never an easy process making a decision on who has the skills, the fitness and the heart to step into a competition boxing ring but we broke it down to six lads ranging from 13 to 26-years-old. A new era is upon us."
Back in March, at a marquee venue in Cheltenham, the club got off to a busy few weeks for its new boxers.
Finley Paull, 24, got the appreciative crowd going against a local lad boxing out of a tall southpaw stance. He worked well getting underneath the long range of his opponent, attacking both the body and head of his fellow debutant.
After three close rounds, Paull got the win via a split-decision.
Jenkins said: "That was a cracking win for Fin. I was mighty pleased to see him start this new era with a win after a tough bout, it's never easy boxing a southpaw at any time especially on debut."
