Molly: My hen night aged 92 was worth waiting for!

A Somerset grandmother of 12 was given the hen night she never had - 70 years after she walked up the aisle.
-
Molly Hutton, 92, had mentioned to her family that she didn’t have a hen night ahead of tying the knot with husband Geoff in April 1955.
So her loving family hatched a plan to give Molly, a former head-teacher, a hen night of her own - on the eve of her 70th wedding anniversary.
“We have a big family and some of my granddaughters and nieces have got married and I attended their hen nights and had a great time,’ said Molly.
“And I mentioned that I'd missed out on having one because it wasn’t something which people did in those days”
The hen night was hosted at Clevedon’s live music and arts space, The Riff Corner - and came as a complete surprise to Molly.
“I didn’t know anything about it)” she laughed.
“We had been for a meal at a local restaurant and the family asked if I would I like to go to watch a band.
“So I arrived at The Riff Corner thinking I was going to watch some music to find a full hen night had been planned”
Molly, from Clevedon, was presented with her ‘Bride to Be’ sash and a veil. The family and friends enjoyed a buffet and games.
“It was a fabulous evening,” said Molly.
“It may have taken me until 92 to have a hen night, but it was worth waiting for”
