Jaipur's strict nightlife curbs are backfiring forcing clubs to shut early and city seeing a rise in unregulated house parties, drunk driving, and safety concerns
Rajasthan’s strict nightlife curfew has turned city streets into unregulated party zones, leading to growing calls for the return of properly regulated nightclubs amid increasing safety concerns.
The government’s order to shut down music at 10 pm and stop liquor sales after 8pm and midnight closures of night clubs has failed to achieve its goals for maintaining peace and reducing crimes. The restrictions began in January 2019 when liquor sales were banned after 8 pm, later changed to midnight closures by January 2023, with music restrictions added by June 2024.
“According to the Traffic police records provided by the DCP, there is a concerning rise in drunk driving incidents in Jaipur as 1,300 cases were reported in 2023, 1,400 in 2024, and already 600 in just the first three months of 2025.
