MAJOR PENSION FUNDS are pivoting away from sovereign bonds after a change in regulations allowed them to beef up their stock holdings.

The three largest state-owned funds bought ₹28,900 crore of more equities than bonds in the first three months of the current fiscal, versus ₹17,800 crore of more bonds than stocks in the previous three months, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
