Pension funds seize on new rule to grow equity exposure

BEEFING UP HOLDINGS Pension funds step up equity buying, scale down debt purchases
MAJOR PENSION FUNDS are pivoting away from sovereign bonds after a change in regulations allowed them to beef up their stock holdings.
The three largest state-owned funds bought ₹28,900 crore of more equities than bonds in the first three months of the current fiscal, versus ₹17,800 crore of more bonds than stocks in the previous three months, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
