Cabinet nod to ₹6,811-cr Uttarakhand ropeway projects

THE CABINET ON Wednesday approved two ropeway projects under public-private partnership in Uttarakhand—Sonprayag to Kedarnath and Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib—at a total cost of ₹6,811 crore to help significantly reduce the travel time to the pilgrimage sites.
The construction of these two ambitious projects is likely to be completed in 4-6 years and is expected to give a major boost to religious tourism. The two ropeways will be constructed under the National Ropeways Development Programme - Parvatmala Pariyojana.
