Recognised startups up 52% in FY26

THE NUMBER OF startups recognised by the government increased 51.6% to 55,200 in 2025-26, the highest single-year addition since the launch of the Startup India initiative in 2016.

As of March 31, 2026, the number of such startups has surpassed 223,000, generating over 2.4 million direct jobs. More than 107,000 recognised startups have at least one woman director or partner, accounting for 48% of total, a statement by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said.
