US Flays India's Drug Price Controls

THE US GOVERNMENT'S report on foreign trade barriers has raised concerns over India's price controls on medical devices, particularly the capping of prices for coronary stents and knee implants.
According to the report, national pharmaceutical pricing authority (NPPA)—India's nodal agency for regulating the prices of essential medicines and medical devices—has not adequately accounted for inflation and technological advancements when fixing prices.
