FRANCE-BASED TOTALENERGIES PLANS to expand its sales of US-produced energy products, particularly liquefied natural gas (LNG), to India, in anticipation of rising demand in the country over the coming years.

- MUKESH JAGOTA

"We plan to sell more energy, in particular from the US. We are the largest US energy exporter of total energy. So we can bring more," said Patrick Pouyanne, chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies after a meeting with commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal.

Under the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) that is being negotiated with the US, India may step up sourcing of energy products from America to help bridge some of the trade gap between the two countries, which is a key demand of President Donald Trump. Due to the deficits that the US is running with the world, President Trump has imposed reciprocal tariffs on all trade partners.
