'Aiming 25% share in aftermarket tyres'

Bridgestone India, part of Japanese tyre-major Bridgestone Group, is the biggest player in the passenger vehicle aftermarket tyre segment, with 20% share, and aims to take that to 25% in a few years.
"We are a local company with global capabilities," says Rajarshi Moitra, executive director, Bridgestone India. In an interview with FE's Vikram Chaudhary, he adds that Bridgestone has outlined more than ₹700-crore investment in expanding capacity to 11.1 million units by 2029. Excerpts:
Are tyre companies impacted by the global tariff war?
Teams in Japan and India are studying it, but as of now, we haven't seen any direct or indirect impact on our operations.
Is India a tough market to work in—considering that domestic tyre companies such as MRF, JK Tyres, Ceat, and Apollo are quite strong?
