With DoT approval, Starlink to begin infra investments

FOLLOWING THE RECEIPT of a letter of intent (LoI) from the department of telecommunications (DoT), SpaceX — the parent company of satellite internet provider Starlink — is set to begin the process of investing in satellite communication (satcom) infrastructure in India, sources said.
With the LoI secured, SpaceX is now authorised to start building ground infrastructure, including earth stations and gateways — critical components that support satellite-based broadband services. These facilities serve as communication hubs, linking Starlink's orbiting satellites with the terrestrial internet backbone to deliver high-speed connectivity across vast areas, particularly in remote and underserved regions.
