GROWTH PUSH

- FE BUREAU

INDUSTRY BODY Cll has proposed the creation of the India Development and Strategic Fund (IDSF), a sovereign-backed, professionally managed institution to finance India’s long-term growth, resilience, and global economic security.

Designed as a twin-arm national fund, IDSF would channel patient capital to strengthen domestic productive capacitywhile securing critical overseas interests, CII said.

IDSF should target a $1.3-2.6 trillion corpus by 2047 through initial budgetary allocation, asset-monetisation proceeds (roads, ports, spectrum), public sector enterprise (PSE) equity transfers, thematic bonds (infrastructure, green, diaspora), and co-investments. Calibrated forex reserves could support strategic acquisitions, it said.
