Pulses buffer stock at less than half of norm

WITH A SHARP fall in the procurement of pulses in the past couple of years due to prices ruling above the minimum support price (MSP), the government's buffer stock fell to less than half of the norm.
Sources said that against the buffer norm of 3.5 million tonne (MT), which the government needs to carry out a market intervention programme for curbing the possibility of rise in prices, government agencies Nafed and National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) currently hold 1.45
