Support vulnerable pets on Mandela Day
False Bay Echo
|June 26, 2025
The Animal Rescue Organisation (ARO), a non-profit is calling on animal lovers, schools, businesses, and volunteers to join forces for the pack-a-pet-bag party event taking place on Mandela Day, Friday July 18.
The initiative is a hands-on community event aimed at helping vulnerable pets in under-resourced communities.
The ARO, based in Ottery, is calling on the public to make financial donations to buy supplies like food, leads, bowls, pet blankets, something warm for the owner and educational material on how to care for their pet.
Once packed, the bags will be distributed through ARO's mobile clinic, reaching pets in communities like Jim se Bos, Phumlani, Egoli, and beyond.
