Woman suffered several fractures due to driver losing concentration

A RECENTLY-QUALIFIED driver who badly injured a pedestrian crossing South Street in Exeter has been banned for 12 months.
Owen Johnson, 23, suffered a split-second lapse in concentration when he struck the woman who was walking near Market Street, a court heard.
She suffered multiple fractures, psychological trauma and is unable to live the same active lifestyle she used to.
Johnson stayed at the scene to help and has written a letter of apology.
He admitted causing serious injury by careless driving when he appeared at Exeter Magistrates' Court.
