Presenter who quit amid rumours of bust-up is hailed as 'one of the best'

ALISON HAMMOND and Dermot O’Leary today hailed Phillip Schofield as “one of the best live television broadcasters this country has ever had” as they presented the first episode of This Morning since his dramatic exit.
Schofield announced on Saturday that he was stepping down from presenting the ITV talk show with “immediate effect” after more than 20 years on the programme. It followed weeks of rumours of a falling-out with co-host Holly Willoughby, 41.
Their friendship was said to be in “tatters” after he reportedly failed to tell her about his brother’s child sex abuse case, which last week saw Timothy Schofield jailed for 12 years.
